INTRO: Emotions are what propel you forward to reach your goal, but what also stop you from breaking your limits. They are what weigh into our decisions and help lead us to the choices we forever live with. Not only can they determine what we do, but also when and how we do it. At times they are stronger than others, pulling us forward or throwing us back as if we have absolutely no control. Just like in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the entire lives of two teenagers were lead by the emotions that they couldn’t ignore. This lead them to make decisions that were irreversible, and significant. Decisions that changed the lives of not only themselves, but the ones who loved them. Throughout the entire play, multiple persons die due to the overpowering feeling of hate. Mercutio, a close friend to Romeo, killed by Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. Tybalt and Paris, Juliet’s soon to be husband, are both killed by Romeo. Near the end of the play, Juliet decides the best way to avoid her marriage with Paris is to take a potion that makes her seem dead, but wake up three days later. The morning after she takes the potion, the word gets out that Juliet is ‘dead’. In the mix of all of this, Romeo was supposed to receive a secret letter explaining this whole complicated situation. Instead the letter was not delivered. When Romeo heard the news that Juliet was claimed to be dead, he arrived at her grave and killed himself so he could still be with her. Minutes after the death of Romeo, Juliet awakes only to find Romeo dead by her side. She cannot bear the fact that her only love is dead, so she too kills herself. Moments later, the authorities arrive and declare them both dead and tell the families. When both families arrive at the scene, the see the final results of their hate. Juliet’s mother is so sad, she too passes away. All of these tragic events only occured because the unignorable power of hate. All misery and horribleness is all caused by themselves. Every action taken could have been prevented if only they had put the unasked for hate had been put to an end. The power of their emotions caused this catastrophe, resulting in the loss of things they can never get
