I can 't let my parents lives go in vain of the sacrifices they have made to put me in the position I am today. In high school I had to financially support my family for a short time which resulted in my grades dropping dramatically and I was now on a troubling path if I didn’t do something. In 11th grade I turned my whole life around and began to invest all of my time in school taking challenging course that even teachers doubted my potential, but I excelled academically in my advanced placement courses. I then ran and was elected to be Associated Student Body treasurer and joined 4 other clubs in my high school and as well as other community organizations that had an important role and purpose in my community. This was my way of giving back to my community. Everything I did was beginning to seem not to be enough to reach a higher education. I then applied to the California State University of Northridge Educational Program who accepted me and this was something I thought I would have never been able to say that I was now a student at a 4 year …show more content…

In the future I want to become a political leader that will allow me to use all my power to ensure my community doesn’t stay the same as how I grew up and ultimately give back to my community. After i receive my bachelors degree i ultimately want to move further and receive both my masters degree and my doctor 's degree because i believe education is the most important investment i will ever make because no one can take my knowledge

It’s incredible the sacrifices people make everyday to get there education. I look to my dad as my inspiration, when he was growing up in southern Vietnam he walked 3 miles a day to go to school with no shoes. He came from living a life like that and left everything in Vietnam to give a better life for his kids. This makes me appreciate everything I have over here from the opportunities I get to the progress I’ve made. The sacrifices my dad has made for my education is something I’ll always be grateful for.…

Along my journey in school I remember all the sacrifices my parents did for me and my siblings. For example, my father Adolfo Garcia would work from Monday to Saturday from sun up to sun down in order to provide food on the table, clothing on our backs, and a roof over are heads. Although both of my parents encourage and motivate me to attend school and pursue higher education, I am also motivated by all the sacrifices they have made because I know that if it wasn’t for the support of my parents I would not be where I am…
