When a student reaches grade ten, they should be given options of courses based on their career field. If a student is passionate about math and wants to major in a math related field, they should not be required by government standards to have a specific number of history credits. They should be able to choose a general category that they excel in and are interested in from the core subjects and then be giving requirements that they must fulfill in order to pass for their diploma. The selection of pre-requisite classes should be specified for the topic field that the student is interested in. This would overall relieve the stress of failing subjects that the student isn’t strong in or even interested
