Education in the Past, Present, and it’s Effectiveness
Had education stuck where it was in the past, our education system today would look a lot different. Students would still be using Hornbooks, Magic Lanterns (small projectors), and Chalkboards. We would be constantly behaving and listening to the teacher. If students did disobey the teacher, we would get whipped or beaten. However, today’s education is much different and more effective. Now, we are using our
Smartboards with computers, and students can certainly get very off topic. Education conditions are not as harsh, and it creates a good environment for the student to be and participate in. However, our current system has flaws. Many students are not learning content and skills for

Magic Lanterns were basic projectors, and one would put a small sheet in front of it to project on a wall. These tools are somewhat different than we use today, and they may have inspired some changes that were made to the tools in the present. items that were not used to their full potential sparked changes that would be featured in a much different world of education, the present.
Education in the Present shows this generation that we have improved on the
Education system from the past, and continues to amaze us to this day with new advances. Tools used in modern education are far more advanced than the tools used in the past. Instead of chalkboards and pencils we have Smartboards, phones, and laptops. According to dailygenius.com, “20072010 was the age for Smartphones and tablets. The concept of classroom slates got a revamp with iPads which is taking classroom education to new heights.” This means that the common place items for modern education is changing from hornbooks and magic lamps to the vast

In fact, all of this knowledge loss may be caused by the previously mentioned distraction that technology creates. Even so, students have an amazing educational system that has transformed from the old system to the new, still having glaring flaws yet doing a pretty good job of doing what it is supposed to do: teach students.
Education started out a lot differently then you see today. Students used wooden panels with pictures on them to learn, and even used a “magic lamp” to show projections. Then, these practices were discontinued when the modern Educational system came along. Modern education is techcentered, and it shows how much

technology is changing the world. We have Smartboards to watch videos, laptops to study with, phones to practice on, and so much more. However, it is not perfect. Many students are not learning life skills like conversation, or not learning content like the

Online learning is easier for everyone involved less gas is spent on taking kids to school, less money is spent buying school supplies and other school necessities. Now I am not saying online learning is for everyone, but it can be if we put our minds too it, who knows maybe one day we won 't even have public school, and everything will be online. I can see the parents concern as to their child falling behind or not getting the same kind of education because it is through a computer, but it is still a real person that is teaching the content, not some robot. Have you ever tried online education, what side of history are you…

Before students can use a computer effectively, they will need to be instructed on how to use the computer and that can take some time. Computers make also make it so easy to find answers that students barely have to look for them. In a personal interview a friend said, “We use computers to do things faster even if it isn’t the best way” (Vazquez). Even when it comes to answering simple problems on homework, many students seek the answers on a computer instead of trying to find the answer in a book. While having an easy access to information may seem like a great thing, it can become a real problem too, computers have made cheating easier than ever.…

This idea is also declining because of the time we have to spend on study which only provides single line knowledge. It has been found that the divergent thinking ability of the children who are in kindergarten is superior to those of the later age groups. Why is this so? This is so because during childhood our mind is in a free and peace state but as we started to grow it gets consumed by the embedded education system. So the method of teaching in current world is killing the pure let’s say real intellectual activity of…

This was not a problem back in the sixties, but it has become an issue in the present. The use of technology has hindered the way we communicate with our peers. We are no longer required to discuss things in person, when we can simply pick up a phone and call someone or turn on a computer and type what we want to say. This has caused us to give up our peer integration. Additionally, our vocabulary has become condensed due to technology, because of these new forms of communication.…

Special education, since the introduction of the school system, has been neglected and thus, efforts in producing skilled expertise to help prepare the students is also lacking. Teaching materials for the special education are also lacking. From my experience, the negligence in the special education department is attributed to the culture that the students do not pursue careers as demanding as the rest of the student body (Barry & Leather, 2012). However, the notion is wrong as many special needs people have risen to great academic and workforce heights. In my schools, teachers are required to give recommendations on how to improve the teaching standards and improve the quality of education.…

I totally agree that now a days standardized testing is used as a way of distinguishing the students with chances to make it from those who won’t. It has made teachers teach to the test instead of allowing students to critically think on their own. It has also given the government a look into schools that don’t have good success rates due to the background and the culture from where they come from. The stress that standardized testing brings causes them to lose focus on their grades and other important factors. Some students may excel in the classroom yet not perform well on a standardized test because they're not use to the format given to them.…

Creating a separation between what is tolerated in the classroom and what is tolerated in the outside world is key. Understanding that although technology is good for classroom use, there is still that possibility that the “devices in the classroom can have both positive and negative effects on [the] learning” (Ravizza). Taking away from the point that these devices, such as cellphones, laptops, etc., could be used for non-academic purposes the benefits overcome the negatives that can be controlled with proper regulation. As students spend more and more time online they become that much more susceptible to getting off task. Many teachers fear that growing up in the age of technology is “producing a generation of teenagers who prefer to work alone” (Scheuerell).…

As mentioned before students think there is less effort involved in an online course as opposed to the traditional in class learning experience. In some cases this might be true but most of the time its not. There are two types on people that take online classes. One side takes them because there hectic schedules don’t allow them to fit into the normal schedule of traditional school, or they live to far from a college, or lastly don’t have transportation to school but really want a higher education. The second kinds of people are the ones trying to take the easy way out or are too lazy to actually go to school.…
