44 players have been drafted directly out of high school into the NBA. Three of those players were taken with the first pick in the draft, but only two of them went on to win the Rookie of the Year award(Hilton 4). The odds are slim that a player will have success as an 18 year old in the NBA, but there is also the chance that the player could blossom into a superstar like LeBron James. There are many pros and cons to getting drafted out of high school and the right choice can change a player’s future. While most high schoolers want to make money in the NBA right away, they should still consider getting an education in college before entering the draft.
