One reason this book should be taught in school today is because it has taught me as a reader some valuable lessons. In the novel Atticus the father of two kids, Jem and scout, he had given his son a BB gun for christmas and had told him “Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit them, but remember it 's a sin to kill a mockingbird.”. “Your father 's right. Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but create music for us to enjoy. They don 't eat up people 's gardens, don 't nest in corncribs, they don 't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. It teaches you to not be judgmental. Shows you that you need to respect yourself and others. We should still continue teaching this book in classrooms today because we may not learn the lessons we have learned in this book otherwise. It also teaches us a little bit of history on how bad black people had it. These lessons help in modern society no matter the ages. Having respect ourselves and others just helps us as a person. We should continue teaching this book it has taught me and millions of others many life
