The Importance Of Education In Business

Isn’t the point of education to help you in life? Then why is it missing that, I was taught how to solve for X when Y and how many electrons are in an atom, but they never bothered to teach you how to build your credit or even pay bills. I believe schools should implement classes like economics or business classes as a requirement the same as other classes as well because these skills are just if not more important and valuable to know. Most of the things you need to know to succeed in the future are taught in school, but they aren’t made requirements instead they find other classes such as history more essential to have. When I was in high school I learned about many things, they offered numerous amount of classes. So many that it would be …show more content…
If I never decided to take introduction to business in high school, I would be just as clueless as everyone else, I might have even chosen a different career path. The class that I took touches up on important things such as how to write a check, opening credit cards, buying a car and much more. Just one class opened up my eyes to all the things I would have never had someone teach me if I decided not to take it. I enjoyed this class also because we had had a website that would update to the actual stock market. And we were given money on the website so that we would invest in stocks and see who would make the most money. It was a fun way to learn about how the stock market affects the economy. Before I took this class I was like most people and didn’t know about any of this. I just had a debit card but that wasn’t really anything special because all I did was just deposit money. The thing that I really thrived to know more about was stocks because I knew that if you have money and know where to place it could become more which is a very helpful skill that can help you in the future. In fact the teacher that taught the class Mrs. Wool told us that throughout college he made all his money off stocks. After I was told about this and how helpful I found this class over a history class it was mindboggling that these type of classes have yet not become a requirement like all the …show more content…
They’re so helpful to know and won’t do anything but benefit you in the long run. I still see them much more important than the classes that schools make mandatory like history, as these are life skills that you will need in the future. I see how schools leave it up to students to decide what classes they choose to take but it just doesn’t seem logical that the point of school is to make you educated and successful in life but they choose not to add these to the requirements. I am lucky to have decided to take a class in this field because as I said it also help me choose a career and will benefit me later as well. I wonder what people do when they are faced with something later in life like moving out or buying a car but are clueless with things such as interest and other things mean. It would make people more educated knowing things like this instead of who was the thirty fourth president. Maybe in the future students will have schools teach them about life skills and become requirements, I still believe that business classes are one of the most valuable classes you can learn about in school and have other sources backing up my opinion

Some students are above average and might need to take the liberal classes to keep the challenge upon them. “Rather than pursing business, technical or vocational training, some students (and their families) opt for a well-rounded learning experience” (Roth, Michael). Students would rather take their own path and make their own choices than to have other adults pursue them in doing other things. Students want to take classes that will help them with their career path and that will help them in the long run but since the wages of college students have went down, it will make it even tougher to live in a young college student’s life. “A harsh reality confronts them; the rewards for the time, energy, and money that young people put into college are less than they were a decade ago” (Shierholz, Heidi).…

I stand before you today to discuss the overuse of standardized testing. Children of these upcoming generations have it engrained in their minds that it is imperative that they prepare themselves for a schooling system with multitudes of tests. Children in these schooling systems are required by law to take standardized tests to represent their currents school. While this is seems beneficial to be funding; parents are not able to perceive how the school and teachers are attempting to construct this into the children’s schedules. Teachers are not only piling on the word for the kids preparing for these tests, but are also forcing all of this knowledge that in a short period of time onto these students.…

This is not the case, as students will have learned about the subject, and learning something is never worthless. The experience may also make the class easier when they retake it in college. In addition to this, the course will have given the student limited experience in a college course. Given this, I believe that awareness and prudence should be exercised when considering college credit in high school, with awareness being knowledge of the pros and cons of each side of the argument and prudence being the wisdom to make a decision based on this knowledge. Knowledge of both sides of this argument can help students and their parents to make better choices about these…

By saying that everyone that gets a college degree will be guaranteed to have a successful life would be a non-sequitur fallacy. Either someone can graduate from college to be successful or not be successful because they could not graduate from a college (False Dichotomy). Not everyone that gets a degree will work in their field of degree; therefore, one will not be successful (Begging the Question). By taking classes in Accounting, Finance, and math subjects, you will be working on Wall Street.…

The title of the autobiography is Jack: Straight from the Gut by Jack Welch. The genre of the book is focused on the business and entrepreneurial standpoints in his own life. He relates to how he began with little to no ambitions to become a businessman and how his own life experiences shaped him to become one of the most successful businessmen in the United States. This stands out to me because of my interest in business and entrepreneurship. Jack and I also share many similarities such as both of us having a speech impediment.…

Another year has come and the past and yet again Nevada has made its presence known; but not in the way it wants. Nevada, as keeping in tradition, has for the third year in the row ranked last among all states and Washington DC in education. Now this won 't come as a surprise to many, with the lackluster funding, and scandal that continuously define Nevada 's education system. Yet nevertheless, this isn 't the kind of news Nevadans want to hear. And with the current debate over Core Curriculum, and the several education-related initiatives on this year 's 2016 ballot; the conversation over education has never been so relevant.…

The United States has been noted for the recent problems with our education system, and how it lacks purpose. People spend thousands of dollars on college, finally get their degree and diploma, and yet, they have no idea what to do when they get out. Rebecca Mead writes in her article, “Learning by Degrees” and Live Chat with the Author, about whether college is a right fit for everyone, because of some people paying for college when it does not help their career. They end up working the same job they were working in college, instead of working in their career field. An awkward gap between the college years and adulthood has been getting bigger and more difficult to control.…

According to Matt Reed in "The Meaning of Prerequisites", he explains two types of camps involving the issue of prerequisite classes. You either agree or disagree with them. Reed starts off his essay asking the question of "Why should courses have prerequisites?" (Reed). Then reassuring some readers that he is not saying that some classes should not have prerequisites, just asking what the criteria should be for those courses (Reed).…

General education classes can sometimes be frustrating to students causing an inconvenience because of high demands of work due and in a short period of time and/ or the the classes requiring more study time than the main classes. The number one issues we have in schools are all the pointless classes we are forced to take instead of taking the right classes we need to know when we graduate high school and go off on our own. Why are we being taught these classes when we are not going to use them in our lives in the future it is a waste of time and knowledge there is simply no point. When we graduate high school and go off on our own lots of students have to figure things out on their own it has been said many times it would have been better on learning these things in school instead of taking useless classes they don’t need. We are acknowledging different subjects why don’t they teach us things that are happening in the world now instead of in the past or about the…
