Although I did not start Cegep at Dawson College, I am truly glad to be finishing here. Dawson College has changed my attitude towards school in so many ways. The rules at Dawson show how much they honestly care about their students. There are some incredible teachers at Dawson who want you to succeed. Some students’ attitudes have a great effect on others. Before attending Dawson College, I went to John Abbott for one year and a half. I found it hard to succeed at John Abbott. They made it very easy for me to take 5 classes instead of the 7 proposed to me. In order to drop a class, you just had to click a button. Half of them do not go to class. There were so many times where I would be sitting in class and realize that more than half the class was not there. My friends used to say, “You’re actually going to class…?” Was that so wrong? John Abbott is a very critical school. You get criticized and judged for everything you do. When I transferred to Dawson College, I realized that not every school is like that. Attendance was mandatory in all of my classes and I was honestly too frightened to miss a class. I was shocked to see how many students participate in class and how motivated some students were. Students would criticize you if you skip class and get bad grades. It is clear that this school is a better choice for me. To sum up, Dawson College has completely changed the way I think about school. I am so motivated to continue into University, confident that I received a great Cegep education. The school rules that Dawson College promotes, the way the teachers care about the students and the way the students care about school are all factors in which I love this school. Throughout my integrative seminar class, I will focus on the idea of the medias effect on body image because of the bullying that I saw at John Abbott
