Dual Nationality is when an individual is holding citizenship of two different countries. Every country has its own citizenship laws and there are different ways to get citizenship in a country such as automatically by birth or marriage and applying for it. (Best-citizenship.com, n.d.) More than 30 countries have already allowed dual nationality, such as United States, South Korea, Philippines, and etcetera. However there are many countries that do not allow dual nationality, such as Singapore, Japan, China, and etcetera. Just this year, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean mentioned that Singapore is still not in a situation where dual citizenship will strengthen us Singaporeans together. (Janice Heng, 2015) However he mentioned that the government asked for Singaporeans to be open minded for any possible changes.

They will also have the freedom to move between two countries without having the need to apply for work permits or visas even for a long term stay and can also leave anytime they want to.
