Dreams are eccentric to interpret and question. To people, dreams offer a chance to wonder about the subconscious part inhabiting in our minds. With that, dreams are also great supplemental material as an interesting story to tell one another or to just utilize as a filler for a conversation. However, people have always wondered for ages what exactly their dreams truly meant. Could dreams prophesize one’s future– or perhaps society’s? Or, could these dreams provide a simple visionary example of hidden wishes one possesses? In this project, my purpose was to keep a well-documented dream journal for a period of a week. For instance, I had two nightmares total during this week. In one nightmare that I experienced September 20th, 2015, I vividly dreamt of someone attempting to murder me with shards of glass. With that, my attacker was also exhibiting an excessive measure of domestic violence against me. Towards the end (when awoke), a man that distinctly resembled my boyfriend came over to ward off my killer and protect me. As a result, I woke up panting and ultimately having a crying session/anxiety attack. For the duration of my day, I felt rather anxious as well as restless and weepy. Aside from the two nightmares and one dream, the rest of week I did not dream or I had a fleeting image. In the one particular nightmare I witnessed where I was being murdered, the Freudian symbolism best fits my dream analysis. To support my reasoning, Freud’s symbolism theory of dreams is explained with two contents of the theory. These two contents are the following: the manifest and the latent content. To analyze, to dream that you are being murdered represents an important connection to a relationship or habit has been fully severed. You are detaching your thoughts and emotions from this particular relationship or habit. Another component of my dream could be the subject of glass. To dream about, specifically broken, glass symbolizes negative changes happening in your life as well as a situation in your life “shattering into pieces”. These two symbols did not pertain to anything significant in my life. These components may be a result to my increasing amount of stress. However, one aspect of my dream, which is my boyfriend, may be true. To see your boyfriend in your dreams indicates your conscious connection to him in real life. For instance, since he was protecting me in my dream, this represents in real life his loving and protective nature for me. To confirm, I definitely do feel he is indeed someone who is selfless and absolutely affectionate towards
