Diversity, one of the most debated topics, is not only crucial to have in order to expand your business nationally and internationally, but it is also crucial to have in order to be a successful business in a world lead by several different types of cultures and skills. Introducing diversity into the work place can help in tremendous ways. Forbes says “multiple voices lead to new ideas, new services, and new products, and encourage out-of-the-box thinking”. Proposing the idea of diversity into the workplace can also put you ahead of your competition. If you are culturally aware of the markets around you, you are able to make smarter, more efficient business judgments that can be more beneficial to your company in the long run. Making sure your company fits in the best it can and recognizes the surrounding values is a very effective strategy when it comes to becoming successfully diverse. Programs that can incorporate every aspect of your desired company and where all major components are available and explored. Companies like AT&T have created the Chief Diversity Officer, which is a program that meets every three-months and is used “to formally integrate, leverage and grow enterprise-wide initiatives for AT&T to become best-in-class in diversity and inclusiveness.” Programs like the CDO help to observe the work of their company and how the practices set are included in the everyday workplace. The company of Coca-Cola has introduced diversity training into their company to educate their employees on the meaning of diversity. It is also used to encourage the employees on how diversity should be used throughout the workplace to efficiently maximize their work. Introducing programs that emphasize and educate the employees on the respect needed to understand all cultures and the importance of equal opportunity for all are crucial to companies trying to initiate diversity into the workplace.
