Discourse community is seeking the same or certain purpose and talking about particular topics and issues. John Swales suggests that groups or communities can only be a true discourse community if they meet the following six requirements: (1) the community shares clearly stated goals and common objectives … (6) a discourse community is not stagnate, thus the group may replace old members with new ones, and this creates different levels of expertise within the community (Swales 471-473).
