A Winterlicious Experience In A Restaurant

Winterlicious is just around the corner. Dining is supposed to be an immersive experience involving all your senses: the decor of the restaurant and plating of the food, the smell that makes you mouth water, the music that puts you in a nice mood, the smooth touch of the napkins and utensils, and finally the taste of the delicious food.

The complete experience actually starts from when you make the reservation, ends when you walk out of the door or upload your food photos on Instagram. However, is the experience designed in a way that is optimized for the diner? Let’s take a look.

You and your friend show up at the restaurant two minutes before your reservation. The place is busy and there is a lineup. “I don’t have to line up,” you think, “I have a reservation.” Wrong. Only one computer in the restaurant has your reservation and you need to line up to get to the person who has access to it. So you wait in line, reminding yourself patience is a virtue.

When you arrive, you are taken to our table right away and check in with our phone with a touch. There is a small shelf under the table where you can put your purse. Sitting on the table are tablets showing the menu, bright enough with pictures and reviews. You can press a button on screen to ask the server for a more personal service, or order directly from the tablet. All the servers are very attentive and ready to serve whenever you look up from your table. They are also comfortable leaving you two alone to have our talk. The music was pleasant and soothing, creating the mood without distracting you. The night goes perfectly. We put in a good review from the tablet and leave a big tip.
