Due to greater amount of interest in technology, children can find it exciting to work on their assignments online and learn through creativity. As Brian Handwerk, a freelancer writer based in Amherst, New Hampshire, explained in his report for National Geographic News that, “Students saw learning gains after as little as 20 minutes of study on the iPad, the research found, and if supported with guidance from an instructor their improvement may have been even more pronounced, the scientists suggest” (IPads Improve Classroom Learning, Study Finds). He also included the reviews of physicist Matthew Schneps, who is a founding member of the Science Education Department at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Massachusetts, to highlight the importance of using digital tools in order to promote academic achievements and make students highly motivated to learn with interest. In the United States, almost all learning institutions are now technology-transformed where students are prepared to be innovative in both education and research. It is also important for our students to be digitally literate because at the present time almost every matter of our life is dealt online, whether it is school application or medical record, economic matters or workforce requirements. With the help of digital learning, the academic success of individual student can be facilitated by determining each student’s academic level, needs and interests. In fact, by involving digital tools for literacy purposes, students may not only stick to a single piece of information which they are looking for. Students will, instead, gather a chain of information by navigating through different sites showing the required material according to their assignments. As the authors clearly state in the article "The Digital Reading Path: Researching Modes And Multidirectionality With Ipads" that, “As we will demonstrate through a close analysis of student dyads working with iPads, the multidirectional nature of their reading pathways is a result of the facilities of the digital technology. The use of touch is read as a signal of student awareness of both the medium and the message they were trying to create” (Alyson, Walsh and Rowsell, p.123). The effectiveness of using iPad as a digital medium for literacy lessons is proved to work efficiently and promote deeper learning among
