Evaluating Nuig's Recommendations In The Irish Food Pyramid

This dietary is intake by a young adult, 20 years old, woman, student, Brazilian and who lives in Ireland. She lives at accommodation on NUIG’s campus. These characters are important in order to evaluate her lifestyle and try to understand how her diet fits in her day to day. She has moved to Ireland 4 months ago and since this period she has changed her diet, started to feed with Irish food products by following a diet similar to the new country. Taking this into consideration, this article will evaluate her dietary and food intake for three days comparing with the Irish Food Pyramid.
Recommendations in the Irish Food Pyramid
The Food Pyramid is a dietary guideline that emphasizes a varied diet and helps monitor dietary needs. Foods from all of the shelves should be eaten, in the recommended amounts, for a healthy diet [3]. Consuming all the recommended number of daily servings from each of the five shelves of the Food Pyramid is a very important habit that should be developed and practiced by everyone.

The Irish Food Pyramid divides foods and nutrients into six categories and specifies the quantity of each food should be ingested daily for a balanced and complete diet. The categories are: bread, cereals, potatoes, pasta and rice, which has to be
