Four Domains Of Learning In Physical Education

I have already explained the meaning of “Domain” I will now just define “Social”. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, (June 2017 update); the word Social means “relating to activities that involve being with other people, especially activities that you do for fun or pleasure: for example an engagement, get-together etc.” All teachers know that learners’ friends perform an important part in learning therefore it is unhealthy for a learner not to enjoy playing with other kids of his age; physical education enhances a learner’ social aspect as some activities require team work and this helps the learners to get to know themselves well and develop a bond of friendship.

They also learn how to manage a range of feelings and to communicate effectively to get their needs met. As babies grow into toddlers and later pre-schoolers, they can manage more things by themselves but still need guidance and support from their caregivers. Toddlers want to please adults and also to be pleased themselves. They do this by imitating others and build their self-confidence by ‘helping’ during every day experiences such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping. They also adapt their behaviour according to their caregivers’ responses and are learning ways to cope with conflict and to solve problems through their relationships with significant adults in their
