Are we too dependent on technology?
6.8 billion People are living on the planet and about 4 billion use mobile phones while only 3.4 billion use a toothbrush. (Zilikman, 2014) The extent of our dependency on technology is far too great that we give it more importance than our daily necessities . Oxford dictionary defines technology as “the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry:” (Nishiyama, 1992) Technology makes our life much easier and simpler and we have been using it right from the Stone Age. We can talk to our loved ones no matter the distance. But they cause many health issues such as cancer and other health complications such as sleeping disorders, dysfunction of the brain and its reaction time . It can also cause technical problems if the person is using a pacemaker or any another device that monitors functions of the body may have some disturbance. (World Health Organisation, 2013) The most common one is traffic accidents that are caused because drivers try to serve two masters at a time.
