The Importance Of Dealing With Starting College

Having to learn to manage all the stressors that come with starting college is a huge demand, and the biggest is time management. Learning to place the priorities in the right order so you can get everything done. With so many hats to wear and balls to juggle it can be a daunting task. Jobs, family, and social engagements it does seem hard to find the time to do it all. With anything you do you need to have a goal in mind. Where are you going? How are you going to get there? These are important questions to ask and answer. Here the goal is to earn a college degree to better a life. You also still need to be present in your daily life (Chambers,2015). Seeing the way to a goal and removing the obstacles mentally will make it easier to reach that goal (Oettingen,Kappes,Guttenburg, and Gollwitzer, 2015). …show more content…
Look at time to sleep, eat, work, and other engagements (Chambers,2015). With me working a night shift and a rotating schedule time for school work seemed to be in abundance, on the days I have off. In a study done by Oettingen, Kappes, Guttenberg, and Gollwitzer (2015) they found that with mental contrasting with implementation intentions people had better time management and completed set projects. Mental contrasting with implementation intentions is basically if this happens than I will do this.
