The concept of dating is relatively new in our culture. However, once the bride and groom are engaged, they are allowed to meet publicly. Society is very conservative on how men and women meet. It is preferred that they meet in public places and any sexual behavior such as kissing. Pre-marital sex is prohibited. Even holding hands or hugging in public are prohibited. Usually engagement period lasts from 2 weeks to one year. Although there are many incidents where the engagement might be called off due to various reasons, it is considerd as a shame in the society especially in the groom 's side. However, from last 5-10 years, dating in a Western fashion is starting to rise. Regardless of the fact that authorities are still against this, younger generation is becoming open minded.
