A percentage of these cities have found curfews to be effective, but a number of the cities have found otherwise. They stated that the police have more serious priorities than chasing curfew breakers, and that there is too much paperwork involved. Dealing with an individual who has broken the rule may tie up a police officer when he or she should be using that time to pursue more serious offenders. Many of the curfews are in place for adolescents, so this does nothing for those who are seventeen and older that are out and about during the night. A large percentage of cities have come to the conclusion that curfews have no impact on gang related activities, because the gang-bangers are not afraid of curfews or the punishments going along with them. We can see that teens can become more self-dependent by setting their own curfews. When teenagers spend more of their evenings with friends they show a decrease in stress. Even city curfews show to be a pain. Not having a curfew in towns would benefit sporting and extracurricular events. Parents would not have to drive back into town to pick their kids up from school late in the night. Lastly, we learn that curfews do not prevent terrible crimes or accidents from happening. To all parents out there, if your teen is trustworthy try cutting them some slack by getting rid of that curfew. The extra freedom may end up being
