Music is what sets the scene for the world around us. Soundtracks in movies tell us something big is going to happen or when a romantic moment is happening. It creates the mood, adds suspense, and adds excitement. Our favorite song can make us dance or sing in the car or boost the lowest of moods. It was no different during the Civil War. Soldiers would march to the beat of battle songs. This would prepare them for battle and keep them in time with one another. Bugles and drums were a major part of a soldier 's daily life.
