Your favorite Michigan tourist spot may not be the safest place to visit. Michigan's crime rate is increasing and becoming a serious problem that the modern world faces today. Michigan’s top 4 dangerous cities are Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, and Jackson. All cities encounter different crimes, but these 4 cities have the top rates in Michigan. Some types of crimes these cities face experience are murder, non-negligent manslaughter, property crime, rape, robbery, motor vehicle theft, and arson. You may want to research your next getaway spot in Michigan before visiting. The population decrease in Detroit has made a big impact on the crime rates. As many know Detroit is one of the most dangerous cities in Michigan. “There were more than 198 violent …show more content…
Flint is the second on the list for highest crime rates in Michigan. “Crime rates per 50,000 people: violent crime 738.6404, murder/non-negligent manslaughter 23.93, and property crime 1,801.04” (Devereaux). Due to the high rates of crime I encourage you to think twice about visiting this city. The crime numbers for the city are outrageous “Crime numbers: violent crime total 1,451, murder/non-negligent manslaughter 47, rape 77, robbery 272, aggravated assault 1,055” (Devereaux). The numbers are pretty high for the city's population number, and crime isn't the only thing that might keep you away from this city. This shows that Flint has many different crimes that happen quite frequently and it's only going …show more content…
With that being said Jackson would be number 4 in high crime cities of Michigan “Jackson Police Department: total for listed crime 87, all other crimes 841, and total arrest 928” (Annual Publications Of Michigan Crime). Jackson is one of the highest crime rated cities in Michigan with a prison in their own city. Jackson’s Police Department manages the least amount of crimes and arrest because they handle emergencies and try and prevent crimes from happening “Jackson County Sheriff Office: total for listed crime 119, all other crimes 1,301 and total arrest 1420” (Annual Publications Of Michigan Crime). The Sheriffs Office deals with more arrest and crimes because they spend more time investigating illegal or suspicious activity and patrolling the roads so they come across more people and

Detroit, Michigan became the backdrop for one of the costliest and deadliest riots in United States history during the early morning hours of Sunday, 23 July 1967. A routine police raid on an unlicensed bar set off a four day long riot, “[leaving] scores dead and hundreds injured, thousands arrested, untold numbers of businesses looted, hundreds of buildings utterly destroyed and Detroit’s reputation in tatters.” The 12th Street Riot, beginning in response to the barroom scuffle, quickly escalated into a violent protest against recent police brutality and racial inequality of Detroit. Located in Virginia Park, 12th Street is the center of Detroit’s predominately African-American inner city, and plays a major role in the night life of Detroit…

However, there is also a lot of traffic found in the city as well as high crime rate, and lower job opportunities. Both areas seem to be very strong because they had major downfalls followed by major upbringings that still enable them to hold their own, even though they may suffer from time to time. Compared to other cities Detroit and Atlanta have a tougher lifestyle, however they are cities with habitable living standards. They are enough to hold a livable and stable…

These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

When people think of New Orleans they think of Bourbon street, Mardi Gras, food, and now a high crime rate. The murder rate has sporadically changed over the years, having a large spike after hurricane Katrina. New Orleans needs to shed the image of violence and death that it now has. New Orleans’s crime and murder rate will continue to rise if people do not do something to quell the pointless violence plaguing the once vibrant city. One of the major reasons New Orleans’s crime rate is at such a high level is because of police incompetence and inefficiency.…
