The Importance Of Cotton Signs

My first symbol is clouds that are made out of cotton balls. This symbol represents how delicate and sensitive I am. Most people see me as a strong bright person who displays how happy and energetic who doesn’t really take others consideration in mind. As clouds are soft and fluffy, I have a soft side of me willing to hear and listen to people’s stories they have to tell or things they have to say. Also Cotton balls can easily break apart into pieces. This relates to my life, because I can be there for people as they need me, but if they treat me like horribly it can decrease the amount of respect I have for that person. These experiences have helped shape me to the way I am, because It helped me to always have an open heart for people and not always are people going to treat me the same.

The next object that exemplifies me are shells. People collect shells, and I used shells as a representation of a collection of memories.Memories are joyful moments and others are worthy to grieve over. This has helped shaped me, because it shows that not everything you remember has to be positive, because things go wrong in our lives and it’s not perfect, but it shows memorable times that we can reflect on.
Fourth, another object that best fits me is Scrabble. This object is made out of four Scrabble letters that spell “HOPE” coming out of a fabric bag. This object represents me, because scrabble contains different letters which also represent all the different phases of events I go through and out of everything, the word Hope is the one thing I should always have. By having hope, it has helped shaped me to believe that good or bad, I should always believe things are going to get better no matter what situation I may be in and that it’ll get

The objects that I were assigned were the Bandolier bag from the Native American Delaware Tribe, and the Painted elk hide from the Easter Shoshone tribe. Bandolier bags were extremely popular among most Native American tribes, and each tribe expressed their culture through them in a different way. This particular Bandolier bag comes from the Delaware, or Lenape, Tribe. It is estimated that it was created around 1850 C.E., and is crafted with beads on leather hide. This object has two components to it, one being the shoulder drape and the other being the small bag.…

In my Coat of Arms Project, I decided to use two symbolic shapes that represent who I am as a person. One of the first shapes I thought of was the circle since the circle is most commonly associated with routine and perfection. Being in routine and having a cycle of everyday events prevents me from having anxiety or stress about school since having a schedule will help plan out my day and allow me extra spare time to do extracurricular activities. In addition, I am usually referred to as a perfectionist because I always want to get a 100% on all homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests. Another shape I thought of that illustrated my personality was the square since it is linked with integrity and community.…

“National surveys in the United States estimate that one in six women has experienced an attempted or completed rape at some time” (Basile, Lang, Bartenfeld, & Clinton-Sherrod, 2005).In the book Picking Cotton, a young woman by the name of Jennifer Thompson was raped by a young black man who had broken into her home. A question we must ask ourselves is why did this young man commit such sinister crimes against Miss Thompson? I believe the crimes committed by this individual can be linked to Strain Theory. Strain Theory was pioneered by Robert Merton who believed that deviant behavior was encouraged around the structure of society.…

Sometimes, it can be difficult for a person to understand their own identity. Being in the state of mind of completely accepting who they are is by nature a difficult thing for a person to do. So, to assist people in their process of self-love, they can use inanimate things as outlets to express who they are. This could be an object that has significance to their life or a hobby that they are skilled in and passionate about. Authors often use this technique to define characters who may not be ready to accept who they are.…
