Communication is much more than just “public relations” for a corporation. Corporate communications incorporates a whole range of specific disciplines, such as corporate design, corporate advertising, internal communications, management of issues, and relations with investors. Corporate communication is a total communication activity created by the company in order to achieve the company’s planned objectives. Corporate communication can be characterized multiple ways. According to Joep Comelissen, one example is “a management function that is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work.” Based upon those characteristics corporate communication involves a wide range of “managerial” and “tactical” activities. Coordinating communication in a corporation requires strategies and programs which target strategic interests of the company. The success and sustainability depends on how the company is viewed by their key stakeholders, and through these strategies and programs corporations are able to build and maintain relationships to protect their reputations. Having strategies and programs not only benefits relationships and reputations but also provides a corporate communications flow of information with communication practitioners to stabilize corporation’s interests. There are multiple social media channels that a corporation can use to benefit them. Some of these sites are Linkedin, Facebook, and Twitter. Each of these social media sites benefits companies in different yet effective ways. Linkedin is the most popular channel which is most successful with corporations. Linkedin is a more professional version of Facebook making it more popular for corporations looking to expand their networking with other corporations, along with looking for potential employees. Facebook is popular with companies due to the fact that it is very easy to communicate with consumers and stakeholders through pictures, messages, and videos. Corporations who use Facebook and respond to wall posts are seeing more likes and more followers. That increases corporation’s public relations and helps to make decisions to continue to get brand
