The Importance Of Contribution To Liberty University

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1. Under this definition I am hard pressed to state my personal faith, let alone how my faith will contribute to Liberty University. My understanding of God and His love and grace is simple. At present I am still trying to piece together my own doctrine. I am excited to learn more about the Christian life as well as building my faith up through Liberty. Though my doubts aside, I do believe God exists and that Jesus is His son, who died for the world’s sins. My hopes are that through my own questions, my peers may be able to step away from the “church” answers and begin to question those answers. An example would be, “Because (insert tragic event)

Introduction Religious organizations, especially on college campuses, can sometimes be viewed by the public as intimidating due to the rules and stereotypes associated with religious groups. Journey, a Christian worshiping community at the College of Charleston, encourages an open-minded approach to spiritual growth throughout college by communicating with students in a way that welcomes all types of students without judgment. This organization is a discourse community, a group of people that share common goals and communicate about a particular topic, at the College of Charleston. To determine this, I compared Journey to the discourse community discussed by John Swales in his academic article. In his piece, Swales explains that to be a true…

Faith to me has always been an action, it is was something you acted on, it was psychical. I never really viewed it as being something that truly satisfies, the concept of being satisfied in knowing it will be alright. Diley and my experience so far at Eastern, really opened my eyes to many faults in my concept of faith. I realize that as much as I thought I was solid and complete in my concept of what faith and Christianity are, I 'm still just…

Faith, from the Miriam Webster dictionary is defined as, “A strong belief or trust in something.” And Biblically, which is stated in Hebrews 11:1, faith is described as the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. In the movie The Wizard of Oz we are witness to a lot of examples of faith. In the movie, the main character, Dorothy, wishes she could just leave Kansas and experience new and exciting things. Before she’s going to leave, she visits a professor in her town to ask him about her future, even though I believed he was a fortune teller.…

I am writing you this letter to discuss the topics of liberal arts and vocation. These two topics are often talked about in academic institutions, but many of these institutions do not go any further than bringing it up; they do not take action on these topics, they simply talk about them. Here at Wheaton, these are central aspects of my education. We are conscious of these things and we strive to understand them as students. I am aware that you do not attend a liberal arts college which is why I wanted to inform you about the importance of a liberal arts education and how it affects one’s vocation.…

Americans have always felt that liberty is of the greatest importance. All throughout American history we have protested, fought, and died for a chance at equality. Ever since European colonists and Native Americans met, they were no different from each other. Each of the groups had their own beliefs, and ideas about what liberties they were entitled to. To prove this, they were both willing to do almost anything for freedom and equality, no matter the risk.…

A Christian liberal arts education more completely prepares its graduates for life than does other education tactics, especially over a general liberal arts study. These universities seek to prepare a student for all aspects of life—wherever and whatever they may be—as a loving, Christ follower. This methodology differs greatly from those used by other institutions for higher learning. A liberal arts degree in the non Christian world focuses on laying a foundational education that will prepare the student for whatever future job they pursue, even if it is outside of his or her chosen major. This allows students as well informed people to succeed in all of the nuances of their employment so that they are not only trained to do one specific job,…

GCU’s Christian heritage makes the GCU academic experience different than the experience at a non-faith-based university because Christian principles are integrated across everything. This helps to shape personal perspectives in a positive and healthy way. I have attended a non-faith-based university and although I received a superior academic education I felt that my education was somehow incomplete. At GCU there is an emphasis to enrich spiritual life which I find completes the academic experience. With access to spiritual leadership I feel that my education is more personal.…

It is often confused what faith is and what it is not. Indeed it is an abstract term which its definition will change depending on who you ask. Throughout the works of two authors, Faith by Terrence W. Tilley and The Essential Tillich by Paul Tillich, the term faith gets evaluated and explained in a more in depth fashion. Everyone has faith; it does not have to be a religious belief, but in fact it can be a relationship with something, a center of value, or a motive. Faith, to me, is an abstruse concept where the components of belief, hope and morality unite to form a synonymous definition.…

It can be difficult as a Christian to attend a non-Christian university as the culture surrounding university life can contradict Christian values. The culture can be heavily revolved around partying, gossiping, and sex before marriage which are values Christians don’t usually associate with. However, when surrounded by it, it becomes hard to remain close to their values due to the desire to fit in. Therefore, it is important to find a Christian group where they can meet people with the same values and who help them pursue their faith. Attending a young adults group is a vital part of maintaining and developing a relationship with God while in university and helps students stay close to their values.…

Throughout the last few years, I believe that I have matured and grown into a positive role model and an intelligent young woman, neither of which would have been possible without the lifestyle that I was raised in. I was raised in a southern Baptist family and within my religious views, I have continually watched myself and others around me mature in our walk with Jesus, and watch how interaction with people of the same beliefs can strengthen a person’s religion. My first thought of this class was one like I am sure many of my classmates had, this class is going to be like a church sermon or Sunday School class every week. I was confused as to how my classmates and I were going to be tested on material like that preached on in churches on…
