In the play A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the theme of contentment was shown through a multitude of characters. A character who showed a lack of contentment was Ebenezer Scrooge. Mr. Scrooge was an extremely wealthy man who did not appreciate the abundance of wealth that he had and always wished for more. Through the cases demonstrated from the play A Christmas Carol, the Richard Schenkman film A Diva’s Christmas Carol, and the song Cheap Thrills, it can be concluded that when one is not satisfied with what they have, it is hard for them to be merry. Therefore, society has to be more grateful and not take things for granted in order to achieve higher levels of well-being. All of these titles come from different times, but they can still share a common theme, which is what a timeless theme is meant to
