The Importance Of Concise In My Writing

Decent Essays
The main reason why I chose this piece of writing was because I felt that my analyzing of the quotes and the incorporation of my opinion in this piece turned out quite well. This piece also displays my flaws and work-ons in writing such as smooth transitions and better word choice which I hope to improve towards the future. One thing that I want to work on throughout this semester is being concise in my writing. Being concise can not only help get my point across the table better but to also prevent being monotonous.
In class, I tend to love sharing pieces of creative writing amongst the class since it gives me a sense of relief and accomplishment. I enjoy creative writing as the possibilities for a piece of writing are endless; although it

Since the beginning of my first year at school I have been learning to read and write. Throughout these years I have had a lot of experiences with reading and writing. All through high school we would write responses and essays over books we read. Once I entered college everything changed; I began to learn about writers and people who were known because of their great works of literature. In college, you are held to a higher standard and responsibility than you are in high school; this challenge has encouraged me to work hard and because of this I have become better at writing.…

“The Power of One” also demonstrated my improved method of writing my introduction and conclusion paragraphs. I was sure to begin my essay in an interesting way by opening with a rhetorical question. On top of that I introduced the idea of “the power of one” and continued this idea by concluding my essay with it as well. In addition, in “Shift to Reality” I feel my paragraph development was strong and thorough as I examined the depth at which William Golding brings his novel to a satisfying conclusion. On the other hand, I still feel I struggle with sentence structure and awkward wording as shown in my ALS Ice Bucket Challenge essay.…

To be honest, I am confident with this midterm essay because, once I saw the prompt, I believed I could write a good essay based on a great amount of time I devoted into, like coming up the reasons for each body paragraph and counter argument. First of all, my logical origination and excellent topics are my strongest parts of my article. Why? Because I could use exactly the same arguments as I wrote in my study guide, it saved a lot of time.…

Writing is a language used to convey or prove something. However, humans don’t get the skills to effectively describe what they are talking about from the air. Writing is a skill that requires a lot of practice to master. Because during our lifetimes we gradually get exposed to more difficult types of writing from narrative and expository writing in middle school, to argumentative writing in high school. We need to develop that skill through hardships, trial and error, and even our accomplishments from the moment we stepped into a middle school to graduating from college.…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…

Spelman helped to change my confidence and made me the writer I am today. Reflecting back on my senior year, I was hesitant to become an English major.…

Throughout the entirety of this English 101 course, I have seen my skills as a writer grow. In the beginning of the school year, my writing fell short of my expectations, but as I continued to work and learn the principles of writing, I have written papers that I am proud to say are mine. Among the aspects of my writing I have improved, the best strives are seen within my my counter arguments and overall strength and coherency of my papers. To begin, when looking at a paper I wrote in August on necessity of first drafts, there were large gaps in my elaboration, bringing concerns as to whether I was arguing and proving a point or merely summarizing what Lamott, the author of the article, originally said. When attempting to argue my evidence, I stated,…

When I compare my writing with another piece of writing, I can clearly spot the mistakes on my own writing. One thing I would change for next time is the way I organized my writing because I want to include most important detail at first and the least important detail at last. Additionally, one thing I would try to improve on my writing assignment next time is that correcting pronounce references and modifying repetitive ideas. However, one thing I am most proud of about my writing is that I have a clear purpose and the thesis statement. Since I have a clear thesis statement, I should have also added more specific details in the essay about my perception to clarify to the readers.…

I was not an excellent writer at the beginning of the school year, but I can gladly say now that I have inherited more writing skills that I will benefit from in the future. One of those skills is being able to reflect on every angle on my topic to allow me to organize my ideas accurately. This skill is beneficial to learn, for it helped with my report essay to acquire the focus of my paper more clearly. Moreover, this skill helped me write papers in my other classes more easily and efficiently. Likewise, my voice can be read strongly throughout the personal narrative essay, because the passion I had for my topic was an emotional one.…
