The problem this study is addressing is that in the physics classroom of a suburban high school, the teacher has access to enough laptop computers for every student to be able to use one, but does not use them because he does not know how to incorporate them into instruction or if they will be helpful in increasing learning. The purpose of this study is to find out if incorporating the laptops in a one to one computer based instruction will increase student achievement and motivation. The following questions and hypotheses were posed earlier in the study.
Q1: What effect will one to one laptop based instruction have on the achievement of the 11th and 12th grade physics students?
Q2: What effect will one to one laptop based instruction have on the motivation of the 11th and 12th grade physics students?
Ho1 : One to one laptop based instruction will have no effect on the achievement of 11th- 12th grade physics students.
HA1: One to one laptop based instruction will increase the achievement of 11th- 12th grade physics students.

The survey consists of 30 questions that are responded to on a 5 point Likert type scale. The SMQ-II will only be given to the experimental group. It will be given before and after the intervention implementation.“Student scores were reliable and related to students’ high school preparation in science (r = 0.56, p < 0.01) and belief in the relevance of science to their careers (r = 0.51, p < 0.01). An exploratory factor analysis provided evidence of construct validity.” Findings indicate that the SMQ is reliable in its internal consistency (ά = 0.93)” (Bryan, 2011). The results of testing the SMQ-II show that it is reliable and valid. The use of this survey should provide an accurate measurement of student motivation before and after the use of
