The next policy that was presented by the community committee focused on making Seeburger Heights environmentally friendly. This policy included adopting a community garden at the school, having recycling bins in the school, and change the light bulbs to be energy efficient. I like the green school policy because it teaches students that if we make these changes it will benefit the world and it will allow them to think about the world as a whole rather than just “their” world. This would also give students the chance to interact with other members of the community if their families chose to interact with the community garden, and would allow them to work with more hands-on activities rather than just being in the classroom. As a future educator this is something that I never thought of when I think about teaching .I seemed to think more about being in a classroom and the curriculum that I will be teacher, rather than recycling and having things like the community garden. After the community committee presented this idea I thought more about how having this would highly benefit not only the school but also the students in a large way. The fourth policy that was presented focused on parents and students interacting with one another. The policy allowed students to have their parents/family members come to the school for lunch and have specific days where parents would be able to come to classroom for family days and see what their students are learning. I thought that this policy as a future educator had both positives and negatives. I think that having interaction between the students and parents inside of the classroom is a good idea because it gives the parents the chance to see what their students is learning and how they act when they are in the classroom, which gives the parent more insight into the schooling of their child. I do however feel that this could be negative because it may make the students more distracted
