In this essay I will be talking about many things including Community Performance and Practice. It’s popular and desirable to bring performing arts to communities because this will encourage people who would not usually perform to join in and watch a performance. It is popular and desirable to bring performing arts to communities by highlighting and inform the community of any issues in their area and/or to bring their attention to something that may affect them. As private and public agencies seek innovative ways to employ the arts to improve and strengthen communities, they have become increasingly interested in assessing the impact of their investments. They are important because this is something we need to focus on and get right to enhance our piece to make it correct. It is important to use focus because this is the subject of the whole piece to the community as this bit has the most attention paid to. This relates to the community by It is about improving an area that is important to that community that is in decline or has disappeared. The community may be lacking: funding for the local community centre, resources for families, free activities for deprived families, etc. Another reason why purpose and focus relates of the community is its focus is to include and invite members of a community to explore and experience different art forms. It could be aimed at people who are unable to travel to such events and/or cannot afford them. Examples of community arts participation are: a poetry workshop, a creative arts day, a fashion workshop/event, etc. The term ‘themes’ means the overview and the underlining element of the work. The theme is a broad aspect, whereas the purpose/focus are more specific. The themes are important because this gives an overview of what will happen throughout the performance and shows what will be portrayed throughout. Alongside the theme, purpose and focus are just as important so that the project is a success to the audience. The issues that it can highlight is as follows the theme can focus on: culture, issues (political, social & community), arts development. Also could raise awareness about the increase of bullying issues at schools in that community. Themes relate to the community by providing a direct link to key issues and themes that people in the local community could relate to.
