A sense of community in the workplace is a powerful tool that all organizations are able to utilize only if they choose to do so and make an apparent effort. “The Art of Leadership” by George Manning and Kent Curtis mentions ten conditions that writer John Gardner states are necessary to establish a true community –shared vision, wholeness incorporating diversity, shared culture, internal communications, consideration and trust, maintenance and government, participation and shared leadership, development of younger members, affirmation, and links with outside groups (Manning & Curtis, 2012).
