Narrative Essay About College Experience

As an intern, I have quickly found that communication is the most important part of being successful in the professional world. At The Garage, I have discovered the importance and uniqueness of communicating specifically with performers. In my Communication Studies classes, the teachings about persuasion and argument are the ones that have resonated with me the most, and I have been able to use both of those to persuade performers to play for the venue and the solve any conflicts that have come up with pay or show details. My first goal in obtaining this internship was simply to get involved. A few semesters ago, I had a public speaking professor that told the class that “although good grades are important in college, gaining experience is more important.” The music business is something that has interested me for a while. I really enjoyed attending concerts, so working in a music venue seemed quite appealing. I wanted to see if this was something that I could actually make a career out of, and the only way to do that was to get experience. I chose The Garage because I was familiar with their venue and their community. Once I began the internship, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone by learning how to communicate professionally and make my own decisions. I have worked for Target as a cashier
