I propose that all high schools require their students to pass a college preparation course before being able to graduate. The college preparation course could show students how to apply for scholarships, Federal Student Aid and colleges. This course could also emphasize time management and prepare students for college workload. A requirement could be one writing assignment each week. I believe that this course would also help prepare students for the “working” world. This could cause graduation numbers and the number of students that are being held back to drastically plummet. I could also see how this could make the dropout rate higher because it may discourage students, however; once this cycle is started I believe in the end it will have a positive impact on students who need to be prepared for
