One of the main reason incoming freshmen and young adults are caught in the college misconceptions is due the media, especially movies. When I was younger, I used to believe everything the media taught, anything I watched in a movie was a reality. As I grew older, I began to understand that movies are not reality. Movies are portrayed to entertain viewers and without guidance brainwash young minds. This is the case with college misconceptions found in movies and ads. The media has a crucial role in the lives of young adults, especially at an age that their discovering about themselves and finding themselves. This is another reason why they easily absorb any information whether that it’s accurate or misportrayed. At a stage in life when their hormones are changing and constantly altering their body for the transfer from childhood o adulthood, their seek guidance and self-reassurance. The media portrays college as the place to be in order to be accepted into society and have a wonderful time. Moreover, knowing the tuition of the college will avoid the admission and loans & scholarship misconceptions concerning college. Through this, students are well aware of the responsibilities and loans to face once in college.
