It took more than a few years to collect enough, being so young I could only work so much, but I slowly managed to save up. Eventually I had enough to buy the property. My dad and me took a trip back to Kentucky to sign the property deed, and we’ve been there ever since, carving a living out of the side of a mountain. It's a hard living, but it saved my life as well as my dad’s. My father had been a masonry worker, working with big stone and cement blocks took a toll on his body. Mainly in the winter, when there was no work for him and all he would do was sit around watching television, day in and day out. Yet, since he has lived out there on our homestead, working a bit around the place everyday, his physical health has been restored, as well as his mentality.
My dream home I had made a reality. It was intended to be a place of nurturing for myself, before I fell into the terrible path that I had seen so many people fall into, that i've thought so dearly of, the ones I looked up to as I grew older and more aware. I did not want to become like them. That hillside changed my way of thinking, it entirely altered my state of mind for the greater good. Now that I have my mind straightened out, it's time for me to set a course to achieving my new goals.
