Like many other Millennials, I preferred a more meaningful open communication with administrators and faculty, as it related to my overall progression. As stated in Wilson, “Frequent student-faculty contact can enhance students’ motivation, involvement, and intellectual commitment, encouraging them to think about their own values and future plans (Chickering and Gamson, 1987). However, it is the quality of the contact, not that matters (Cross, 1999; Kuh, 2003). Which manifested to some professors as disrespect rather than me having a disability. I was encouraged not only by my parents but also the community of fellow students, whom I had befriended, to share my disability with my professors. This went over well knowing that I had an option of open communication with my professors. I quickly learned to address the worst of my fears of attending a higher educational institute. Because, I was allowed to have that open conversations with my professors then alternatives ways of me submitting some assignments were made.
