Injuries are a part of any sport and they cannot be completely avoided. Competition is one of the key factors when playing sports. You are always wanting to win and be the best that you can be. This is putting more stress on their bodies since they are out there trying to improve their draft stock. These extra games could be causing some of the more frequent injuries that we see happening to the players. Kyrie Irving out of Duke university is just one of the many players that have been setback by being injured during the college season. Irving who played in just eleven games in his only season at Duke due to a toe injury(Medcalf). Even with just playing those eleven games he was still selected with the first overall pick. He chose to come out early and this year he was on a team that was competing for the NBA championship. Irving though would have to sit out due to an injury that had occurred. So many things can happen that can change what goes on in any giving day. This year alone we saw the North Carolina Tar Heels being charged with a scandal where they created fake classes just so players would get the required grades. This goes to show you that the maturity level of the players coming out of high school is not ready for real world. Last year during March madness we watched a bone fracture out of someone 's kneecap. These are just many of the things that will hurt the players when putting everything on the line. Raising the GPA level is just one of the many ways that they will help students start caring about the grades they receive in high school.
