March Madness is also a great example of something schools are benefiting from because of the players. Although, the players are experiencing a disadvantage from, because of the function, which causes them to miss school, for usually about six days. Worse than having to catch up on a week's worth of classwork and homework, is the fact that the players who participate in the tournament get nothing back, despite the fact that this gathering brings in an extensive amount of money each year. In “college athletes deserve to be paid,” Michael Wilbon, an ESPN journalist, touches on the circumstances by affirming the 11 billion dollar deal between the NCAA and CBS for March Madness between the years of 2011 and 2024. Wilbon capitalizes on this by stating yet again that “we’re taking $11 billion for three weekends of television per year”. Although the NCAA accumulates an extensive amount of money in just one month, each year- none of it is spared in order to pay the athletes that work so
