The Importance Of Cognitive: What Have I Learned

Improved Essays
What have you learned?
I have learned that communication is very important. Also it is important to be assertive with people and to protect your rights when interacting with people. The ability to be assertive is a learned skill for many people and requires practice to get really good at it.
What I also learned was that sometimes it is hard to stay on task when working in a group of people. Sometimes when a group of women get in the same room discussing things, it can make it hard to stick to what you are supposed to do. I learned how to keep people on the right path and redirect them when they get distracted.
What did you like? What didn’t you like?
I liked learning about conflict resolution in our classes. I didn’t realize that the

It was hard to give each person time to contribute, when they wanted to, in the time allotted for the activity. When all of the members of our group were in class, it was hard to get everyone’s ideas on the whiteboard. It might be better to split a group our size up and give us two whiteboards. This would be possible because some of the students had their own log-in accounts for Centra.
How can you use this experience to benefit your future work as an ECE? Be specific.
During my career working as an Early Childhood Educator, there are many teams that I will be a part of. My teammates may include my teaching partner, other professionals in the community that I will partner with to address concerns about specific children’s development, other staff members and parents whose children are in my classroom.
All of these teams will be absolutely necessary for the healthy development of the children that are in my care. In order to work well with other people, I will need to be able to solve conflicts, motivate others, support others when they are having difficulties and sometimes do more than my share of the work in order to get things done. The experience of working in our learning communities has helped me gain some of the skills that I need in order to be an effective team member and a team

(Q1) Using the cognitive approach on myself was very interesting and I would definitely say it was useful. The main reason I enjoyed this exercise is that it helped me clearly see the positive part of my situation, while I was fixated on that one negative thought. Being a person that looks to facts to support arguments, another reason the cognitive approach worked well for me is that it gave me evidence to prove against my maladaptive thought. (Q4)…

Week 4: Sociocognitive development Describe examples of scaffolding in your experience (as a learner or a teacher). Sociocognitive development occurs mostly through child's social interaction with parents, teachers, peers and other knowledgeable members of the world (Vygotsky 1978,1987, cited O'Donnell et al., 2013, p. 115). Hence, guidance learning utilising scaffolding will assist learning and development (Woolfolk and Margetts, 2013, p. 99). Scaffolding is the method by which educators use progression, resources and language tools and technologies to support student learning.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

“Exploring my Image of the Child” As Dahlberg (1999) explains, understanding and defining the ideal child is a difficult task. In fact, each person has their own definition of the child based on their own worldviews, thus, perhaps making ‘the’ child an abstract concept. This paper is a personal reflection of my worldview, personal experiences, and understanding of a child. I also explore how my new perspective of early childhood education has added to my roles as a Child and Youth Care practitioner working with families and communities.…

Early years of childhood have widely been recognised as the most important years of learning and development. “Research have shown the importance of these years to learn and acquire new skills” (DEECD, 2010), which have assigned a great responsibility to the educators working with the young children. Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
