Club Tti Research Paper

Some of the four most difficult years of a teenager’s life is their time during high school. Where they are too busy caring about what they should wear, what college to attend and making best friends, but for some their focus is on something different. At Heritage High School students join clubs to feel like a part of the school and it allows them to socially engage with their peers. There is a club that is not like any other it's not a yearbook club or video game club, but instead it is a club where students are able to make a difference in someone else’s life. Club TTI is a club where students with disabilities are transitioning towards independence. High school can be even more difficult for those with disabilities, but at Heritage High School, Club TTI offers an opportunity to these students to learn independent skills. Mentors purpose is to serve as a friend, mentor and guide to the students with special needs. When it comes to doing fundraisers the students themselves go around during lunch informing other students what they are selling and the same thing occurs when they are selling t-shirts for the sports challenge. The field trips that they go on are not only to safaris, but to grocery stores and Dominos pizza place. By going on those trips they start to understand how adulthood is for example, some learn they are capable of getting jobs and other learn simply how to buy food at a supermarket. The main purpose of Club TTI is to connect students with disabilities to mentors that will not just be friends to them, but also work as guides to them and for the students to learn about life skills, living adaptive skills and self determination
