Ecumenical movements and interfaith dialogue are really important as they have acted as links between a more secular society and those who adhere to religious beliefs. As a result of World War II, Australia today has such a unique history that has formed the diversity of its peoples, their cultures and lifestyles. World War II also caused many; cultural, social, political and global movements which were all designed to generate unity and peace amongst dividing dominations and religious groups in Australia. This showcases that interfaith dialogues has had a significantly major impact on various individuals. During September 11, many Muslims in Australia were discriminated against and offensive stereotypes were perpetuated. Interfaith dialogue provided a forum for these stereotypes to be broken down and ensured that a harmonious state is obtained. The importance of interfaith dialogue is to work as a unified community so that common goals are achieved. To support those with different faiths in times of difficulties and to share our knowledge and insights with others. An interfaith activity like the Abraham Conference is held every year and it involves the Abrahamic faiths- Christians, Muslims and Jews. All these various faiths come together to discuss social and political affairs, also to understand the complex values embedded within one’s own religion.
