Many of us are about to start the process of choosing the school and the degree we want to go to college for and we all have our dream school but are they really the best option for us? Some of the best school in America like Princeton, Yale, Harvard, and Duke are not public colleges but private colleges this being said there are still really good schools that are public. Tuition for in- states students and for a private college is a difference of $24,372 said by college board for a four year program. The big gap in the pricing of schools is due to how they are funded many almost all public colleges are government funded and that why you can get in-state tuition because your parents pay taxes in that state, where as a private college is funded by private companies and other groups so the tuition cost is more money because the amount they make with funding is not enough to pay for everything. It has also been said that if you go to a private school you 're most likely going to have more student loan debt than a person going to a public university because tuition cost is more. Public Universities like the University of Iowa has an average in-state tuition, room, board, and fee cost is $21,000 and an out of state cost of $41,000 which is almost double the amount, where if you go to Harvard the average cost is $61,000 alone. These numbers being before scholarships, and financial aid you still have a chance of not paying thousands of dollars.
