Career choice is a reoccurring inquiry presented to young adults and teenagers. Choosing a career requires much research, thought, and contemplation. Many people tend to avoid the subject or brush it off when it is brought about in a conversation because they are unsure if their careers they have thought of in the past are truly what they want to do. They also tend to forget to consider imperative factors and components of careers and how they relate to their lifestyles. Therefore, people must consider their long-term goals and lifestyles when selecting a career. If someone’s goals and passions do not align with their career choice, this can result in discontentment and dissatisfaction. People also must consider the salary each job offers. …show more content…
I selected two Information Technology (IT) careers and one in my desired program of study. Since I am not yet in college, as I am a tenth grade middle-college high school student, I have not selected a program of study yet. However, I do desire to embark upon and pursue a program of study related to architecture. The two Information Technology careers I selected were software development and web development. I chose architecture because I have always had a passion for creative visual art since I was a young child. I admire building infrastructure and design. Also, my curiosity of the planning, development, and creation of different structures and facilities has grown as throughout my adolescence. I chose the software development career because I enjoy using different software on my personal computers to create and design different things. I think software development is important because it can improve the efficiency and productivity of the technological execution of computer-related tasks. Software developmental skills can also assist me in my architecture career because I can develop and utilize engineering software and construction software to aid in the creation of different architectural projects. I chose the web development career because I am curious about how computer engineers use different code coordination’s to create and format web pages that people across the world can use. The thought of designing and building beautiful structures would motivate me to go to work everyday and pursue the career of architecture.
