The Importance Of Children And Education

I really enjoyed this class this semester. At first I thought I would have to end up dropping the class. I figured it would be too much for me to keep up this semester. Something told me to stick it out and that it would get better, so I stayed. I am glad I stayed because I learned a lot. If one of my peers would ask me about a class they should take for their teaching benefits, I would recommend this class to them. Beforehand I would warn them about the work, but by the time I finish stating what it did for me they’ll agree to take the class! I enjoyed the challenges that I faced including the long nights. In the beginning I had a hard time with keeping up with the reading logs. I missed so many and they all caught up to me. Never did I intend …show more content…
I understood that I had the opportunity to make at least a few children’s educational experiences more nurturing and productive than my own had been. Everyone needs someone to look up to and be their mentor not just their teacher and that’s just what I plan to do. The awesome readings I was reading from my different English classes I took; as well as volunteering at the different schools in the surrounding areas gave me a chance to really see this is where I want to be. I will have so many opportunities to improve the outcomes and experiences of students today. If I can make a positive impact on a student life then that’s just what I intend to do. With that being said in not much time, it became clear to me that the second half of my life would be about children and their …show more content…
The course is really helpful to future educators. Doing the teaching demonstrations was essential in class. Having practice with teaching an actual lesson to students has equipped me to go out and teach now. I know what is expected and what I have to work on. At first I used to be so nervous about making lesson plans and teaching in front of a class. I think this fear comes from me being so small and thinking students automatically will take me for a joke. Now at the end of this class I no longer have those thoughts. I remember in class you stated it’s not a big deal if you mess up because you’re the only one who will know what you messed up one. The audience is your students who are there to learn. This class reminded me of my other classes that I had to prepare lesson plans and an actual lesson in. People just don’t understand how helpful these activities can be. Even in the beginning I complain that is was too much. Now I embrace it because it only makes me a stronger

I grew up in an upper-middle class, white, Catholic family, in the middle of suburban Cary, North Carolina. Culture was a term introduced in school with pictures of exotic places and bright wardrobes; history lived inside textbooks with stories of war and migration. My fourth grade family history project contained one piece of information: my great-grandmother sailed to the States from Italy in 1904. The little history and culture introduced by my family showed me who I do not want to become. While the teachings of Christianity shaped me into a compassionate, open-hearted person, I struggle to accept the dogma that followed it.…

Nevada, as keeping in tradition, has for the third year in the row ranked last among all states and Washington DC in education. Now this won 't come as a surprise to many, with the lackluster funding, and scandal that continuously define Nevada 's education system. Yet nevertheless, this isn 't the kind of news Nevadans want to hear. And with the current debate over Core Curriculum, and the several education-related initiatives on this year 's 2016 ballot; the conversation over education has never been so relevant.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education.
