According to The Advantages of Eating Healthy Foods, “Those who follow a healthy, well-balanced diet reduce their risk of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer” (The Advantages). If children incorporate healthy eating and exercise into their life at a young age they can reduce their chances of getting a chronic disease. It takes about 21 days to make a habit. Parents and schools can help children make a habit of eating healthy and exercising daily. This can help them reduce obesity. Middle school and high school is a big transition for children and it may cause insecurities in children who may be overweight. According to Marc Ambinder, “The obese are more likely to be depressed, to miss school or work, [and] to feel suicidal” (Ambinder). Being obese can cause a child to be bullied by other students which may lead to a child becoming depressed, missing school, and feel suicidal. They may need to go to therapy to deal with these issues or tutoring to help with school. Schools and parents can help by implementing the “Let’s Move” campaign resources, by providing healthier options in vending machines around schools, and using a school garden to provide healthier options for schools to use. Using these resources can help children educate themselves and make decisions about healthy eating. Taking these steps will help children in the future by reducing the chances of becoming an obese adult. Once we have taken this step to get to a happier and healthier adults we will have a happier and healthier
