Child obesity has significantly grown throughout the United States. The article mentioned that about 33.4 percent of American children in 2014 were overweight, and just over half of those kids were named obese. The author’s point of view seems to be more lenient to the notion of reducing the amount of obesity throughout the United States drastically, to reduce the excessive statistics. I have learned that in the future years, if health restrictions aren’t strictly implemented the obesity levels throughout America will continue to rise to levels beyond imagination. In todays society many stores are promotion healthier options and are starting to show the calorie counts of each item on the menu to persuade people to choose the more healthy option …show more content…
With the increase in this disease, it is causing individuals to grow larger due to the effects of this disease. Although it is not a factor people with this disease can control, it is increasing the United States obesity issue by counting these people with medical conditions in the total number of obese people in our society. This article mentioned that a new obesity drug that previously caused serious psychiatric side effects could help people lose pounds without experiencing the anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts previously associated with it. The author states that with the improvement of this drug, the amount of obesity can be reduced and the United States total obesity problem can be reduced without harmful effects. The author additionally wishes to gain more research about this drug and inform the people that this is a step in the right direction. I have learned that according to the article, our bodies we have cannabinoid receptors that control appetite, mood, memory and pain and the new obesity drug stops these receptors from working which reduces obesity among people who wish to take this new drug. I believe that America has become very lazy and if there is an easy way out of anything, Americas will do anything to minimize their efforts. The obesity rates throughout America can simply be reduced if simple exercise is done. People today would rather take a harmful substance and suffer through dangerous side effects to loose weight rather then to simply spend 20 minutes on a treadmill or just going outside and talking a quick walk.
