For two weeks I have followed around Tommy and his three brothers. Tommy is 11 year old boy work in the coal mines of West Virginia. The reason I choose to spend two is the child labor. This is not only a huge problem in West Virginia but it is also a huge problem throughout the United States of America. More than 60% of the kids in the United States of America are working.
Tommy and his brothers wake up every day at 4:30 am and search their house for food. They eat what they can find or they go hungry. At 5 they start their walk to the town to catch their ride to the mine in the west virginia hills. They work for ten hours straight in the cold, dark, mine. Working for less than a dollar an hour.
