Changing Society Research Paper

The world around us is constantly changing. From the beginning of time man created a society in which he lived and survived. As the generations passed, society became more sophisticated. Many things transpired over time bringing the world to what it is today. There are many thoughts as to whether the changes have bettered society or made it worse. Personally, I think change is for better but there are many areas of change that have made our society one that has slipped into a state of moral decay. The purpose of this essay is to explore some of those changes and to conclude if society and the world has suffered or gained from those changes. While the use of the computer to access the internet, the “information highway” has also become a vehicle for those who troll various websites in order to seek ways and means to use against society. For example, many websites are established as hunting grounds for pedophiles that use the internet to lure young boys and girls into a web of physical, mental, and social destruction. It is also a lair for cults and terrorist groups who establish sites that cater to young men and women who feel they are society’s outcasts. These sites convince those young people who are already in a state of depression that no one cares about them at home but if they join up with them they will find a place in society that no one can take from them. Cell phones are also a part of what some refer to as society’s moral decay. For example, text messaging has become the main mode of communication for adults as well as teens. Seldom does anyone talk on the cell phone, rather they text constantly using a texting code that only those who use this method can understand. For example, “Idk” means “I don’t know” for those who are receiving a text asking a specific question. Not only does using the cell phone as a means of texting code, which takes away from traditional spelling and sentence structure, it is also used by those who are involved with “sexting.” Sexting is using the cell phone to send lewd or pornography to the recipient. Both adults and teens have been guilty of these actions. Texting on cell phones are one of the main causes of automobile accidents.
