In order to find solutions to problems such as sexism, racism, classism and so on, we must realize that we as individuals are a part of society. As individuals we may feel powerless to make a change, but united all together we can make a change. In lecture, we watched a film “Walkout” that describes the inequality of education among non-White students, specifically Hispanic students. The film took place in East Los Angeles, California, where different high schools, such as the Lincoln High School, were challenged to advocate and implement the essential changes concerning the, discrimination towards students, degrading and inhuman treatment towards the students, inexistence of appropriate and quality school materials and resources, to name a few inequalities students faced. I became aware that my community, Huntington Park, was predominantly Hispanic and residents were of low income, this has foreshadow the living conditions of residents. In recent years, many criminals have been released from prisons and return to their old and safe environment. In lecture, we discussed the prison industry and how it is more than likely impact poor minorities. The release of criminals has led to an increase of robbery and break in’s in many households in my neighborhood. I understand that convicts are struggling to find jobs in this difficult job market, but that does not excuse the terror they are inflicting on innocent people. Multiple robberies and theft have occurred in my block like I mention before, calling the police was of no use for many of my neighbors. Disappointment at their lost and the failure actions of the police officers my neighbors resigned to the hopes of ever seeing their belongings. What is the point of having police officers if they were not going to protect resident’s property or well-being? I came to a realization that in order to change my community I had to take a step. This atrocious acts have motivated me to organize a neighborhood watch in my community. I want to make my neighborhood safe and secure for all the residents in my community. Recently, I have begun to orchestrate a plan to gather and unit
