In a policing agency there are a number of changes that happen daily or monthly but when these changes happen they have to be communicated down or out to everyone so that all officers are doing the same thing no matter what shift they work. Although, there are a number of officer who work on different shifts as well as off of work on certain days but there is a way to make sure that every officer gets this information. Therefore, the Chief of police or the Sheriff can deliver these changes in a number of ways. The reason I feel this way is because everyone will never receive the same information at the same time. Furthermore, a lot of departments don’t have a training department which only deals with the training all of the officers on new techniques and changes as well as have a format that they go by in order to teach these changes. Therefore, some of the information will get misinterpreted because it will never be told the way it was heard. Unfortunately, the only way to ensure that this does not happen is by one person teaching everyone the same techniques or concepts from the same material. However, this method may not always work either because a lot of people don’t perceive a change as a good thing which means that they will not be willing to learn the new technique or concept because they may feel that there are some negative repercussions behind such concept or technique. Although, this type of negativity could only last for a temporary or marginal time frame it could still hurt the department productivity. Therefore, the officers in the department have to feel that the out-come of the change is for the best for the department as well as for themselves in order to fully understand the change.
